Thursina International Islamic Boarding School (IIBS) continues to expand access to international study opportunities through the Study Abroad Information Session: Trent University, Canada, held on Friday, September 4, 2026, at TICH Leiden. The session formed part of Thursina’s ongoing efforts to support students who aspire to pursue higher education abroad.
The session featured Javas Afrizal Pratama, a representative of Trent University for Indonesia and Southeast Asia. He serves as the International Enrolment Officer – Indonesia & South East Asia, supporting prospective students from across the region.
During the session, students learned about available study programs, admission requirements, scholarship opportunities, and the steps they need to take before applying. Meeting directly with a university representative also gave them the opportunity to discuss their academic plans and gain first-hand information about studying at Trent University.
Chief of the Thursina International Office (TIO), Ustaz Qoirul Mansur Darojad, M.Pd., explained that preparation for studying abroad should not begin only when students reach the end of Grade 12. Students need early exposure to different universities and education systems so they can make well-informed decisions about their future studies.
“We want our students not only to dream of studying abroad, but also to understand the steps they need to take to achieve that dream. They need to learn about study programs, admission standards, scholarship opportunities, and how to choose a university that matches their abilities and goals,” said Ustaz Irul.
Trent University is located in Ontario, Canada, with campuses in Peterborough and the Durham Greater Toronto Area. The university offers more than 100 programs across various levels and fields of study. Its academic environment emphasizes personalized learning experiences and a global perspective.
For international students, Trent requires a secondary school diploma, proof of English language proficiency, and other specific requirements depending on the chosen program. The university also offers several financial support opportunities for international students.
One of these is the International Entrance Scholarship, which automatically considers eligible international undergraduate applicants based on their academic achievement. The scholarship ranges from CAD 2,500 to CAD 5,500 per year, while Prestigious Scholarships and Awards can provide up to CAD 60,000 over four years for eligible students.
The session also reflected Thursina’s RECODING Value of Open-Minded. Students were encouraged to broaden their perspectives, explore different education systems, and consider their academic choices based on reliable information, personal potential, and future goals.
For Thursina, preparation for higher education begins well before graduation. Through access to international universities and continuous guidance from TIO, students are encouraged to turn their aspirations of studying abroad into clear plans—plans that can be explored, prepared for, and pursued from an early stage.
