Thursina International Islamic Boarding School (IIBS) continues to strengthen its leadership development program through Intermediate Leadership Camp 1, involving students from Grades 8, 9, 11, and 12 across both the male and female campuses. Held from July 14–16, 2026, the camp is part of the school's structured leadership development pathway, designed to nurture students with integrity, resilience, and the skills needed to thrive in an increasingly globalized world.
The camp began with a morning assembly at Sorbonne Field on the male campus and Alexandria Field on the female campus, followed by team assignments and a series of outbound activities. These experiential learning sessions were designed to strengthen communication, teamwork, and leadership skills in a dynamic and engaging environment.
Rather than focusing solely on classroom-based leadership theory, the Intermediate Leadership Camp emphasizes hands-on learning. Students are encouraged to make decisions, solve challenges collaboratively, and take responsibility for their teams through real-life leadership experiences.
On the second day, the camp focused on character development through Peraturan Baris Berbaris (PBB), or marching drill training, held at Sorbonne Field for the boys and Alexandria Field for the girls. The training aimed to cultivate discipline, resilience, precision, coordination, and a strong sense of responsibility in carrying out every entrusted task.
These values were further reinforced through a series of leadership seminars covering topics such as Leadership & Organization, Self Skills and Management, self-discipline, and project planning as practical applications of leadership competencies.
Chief of Education at Thursina IIBS, Ustaz Muhammad Rajab, M.Pd.I., emphasized that the Leadership Camp is an integral part of the school's educational approach, providing meaningful experiences that shape students into future leaders.
"Leadership is not developed solely in the classroom. It is built through real experiences—facing challenges, working as a team, and making responsible decisions. Intermediate Leadership Camp provides students with the opportunity to strengthen their character, resilience, and collaborative skills as preparation for the challenges of the future," he said.
More than a leadership training program, this annual event also reflects Thursina's RECODING Value of Caring. Throughout the camp, students were encouraged to support one another, appreciate individual differences, and foster empathy while working together to overcome challenges.
The camp also aligns with Thursina's commitment to developing Future Skills & Leadership, equipping students with essential competencies such as critical thinking, effective communication, collaboration, adaptability, and problem-solving. Through a balanced combination of outdoor activities, character-building sessions, and leadership seminars, participants gained a comprehensive learning experience that supports both their academic and personal growth.
