For Naufalyn Ranadhiya Putri Hadi, every competition is an opportunity to test her abilities, learn from challenges, and build resilience on the international stage.
The Grade 11 student of Thursina International Islamic Boarding School (IIBS) has demonstrated consistent achievement through a series of international mathematics competitions. Throughout 2025–2026, Naufalyn achieved strong results in three international competitions: the Thailand International Mathematical Olympiad (TIMO) 2025, the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area Mathematical Olympiad (Big Bay Bei) 2025, and the World Mathematics Invitational (WMI) 2026.
At TIMO 2025, Naufalyn won a Silver Medal in the Heat Round before receiving a Merit Award in the international Final Round. She continued her strong performance at Big Bay Bei 2025, where she earned a Bronze Medal in both the Heat Round and the international Final Round.
Her journey continued at the World Mathematics Invitational 2026. After winning a Gold Medal in the Heat Round, Naufalyn earned a Bronze Medal in the Final Round, held in Japan in July 2026.
These achievements were the result of consistent and structured preparation. Naufalyn developed her skills by creating a regular study schedule, practising mathematics problems, reviewing her mistakes, and discussing challenging questions with her mentor, Ustazah Humairoh Fauziah Romli, M.Mat.
“I follow a structured practice method. I evaluate every mistake from previous competitions so that I can learn from it and prepare myself better for the next challenge,” said Naufalyn.
For Naufalyn, her achievements have also been closely supported by the guidance of Ustazah Humairoh Fauziah Romli, M.Mat., whom she regards as an inspiring figure throughout her journey.
“My mentor is someone I truly admire because of her patience, dedication, and consistency in guiding me. She not only teaches me mathematics but also motivates me to be disciplined, never give up easily, and have the courage to take on new challenges,” she explained.
Thursina IIBS supports students through regular mentoring sessions beyond classroom activities and provides guidance in their competition preparation. This approach forms part of Thursina’s academic culture, which encourages students to explore and develop their abilities through academic competitions and international experiences.
International competitions are also part of the broader opportunities provided for students’ personal and academic development at Thursina. In addition to academic competitions such as those joined by Naufalyn, Thursina organises annual Overseas Programmes in seven countries, providing students with opportunities to broaden their perspectives, build international networks, and gain cross-cultural experiences.
This culture of global exposure also supports Thursina alumni in pursuing further education at leading universities around the world, including universities ranked among the global Top 100.
Naufalyn’s achievements reflect Thursina’s RECODING Value of Inspiring—the courage to continue growing while inspiring others through a consistent process of development. Her medals represent more than competition results; they reflect discipline, perseverance, the courage to take on challenges, and the determination to continuously improve.
“I am very grateful to Allah SWT and proud to have reached this stage. However, I want to continue improving my abilities and not become satisfied too quickly with what I have achieved,” Naufalyn concluded.
For Thursina, Naufalyn’s journey demonstrates how education that provides opportunities, continuous guidance, and global exposure can help develop a generation that not only strives for excellence but is also prepared to contribute and take an active role on the international stage. (izz)
