Thursina International Islamic Boarding School (IIBS) has reaffirmed its commitment to broadening access to world-class higher education by signing a Letter of Intent (LoI) with Deakin University Lancaster University Indonesia (DLI).
The signing ceremony, held in the Sorbonne Meeting Room on Monday (July 27, 2026), marks the beginning of a strategic partnership focused on developing higher education pathways, expanding scholarship opportunities, and strengthening students' academic readiness for leading international universities.
Representing DLI was Mr. Viki Stevan Nurdianto, the official representative of Deakin University Lancaster University Indonesia. The Thursina IIBS delegation included Ustaz Mohamat Taufik, M.Ed., Chief of Secretarial Affairs and Partnership; Ustaz Qoirul Mansur Darojad, M.Pd., Chief of the Thursina International Office; and Ustaz Moh. Suhaili, S.Pd., Manager of Thursina Awards & Scholarship.
The meeting resulted in several strategic agreements aimed at expanding higher education opportunities for Thursina graduates. One of the key initiatives is the development of a fellowship scholarship program exclusively for Thursina students, offering an additional 10 percent scholarship on top of DLI's regular scholarship scheme. In addition, academically qualified applicants who meet the university's admission requirements will be eligible to compete for merit-based scholarships of up to 60 percent.
Ustaz Mohamat Taufik, M.Ed., Chief of Secretarial Affairs and Partnership at Thursina IIBS, emphasized that the partnership reflects the school's long-term strategy to provide broader access to global education for its students.
"This Letter of Intent serves as the foundation for a sustainable partnership. We are committed to creating more opportunities for Thursina graduates through expanded scholarship access and academic programs that will better prepare them for higher education at the international level," he said.
Beyond scholarship development, both institutions also discussed organizing campus visits for Grade 12 students, allowing them to experience an international university environment firsthand.
The program will be complemented by academic workshops designed to strengthen students' academic preparedness, critical thinking skills, and understanding of the global higher education system before they pursue their university studies.
This initiative aligns with Thursina's vision of preparing graduates who are not only academically competitive but also well-equipped to navigate the challenges of global higher education.
