Thursina International Islamic Boarding School (IIBS) continues to strengthen its technology-based security system through the Symbolic Handover of the Corps Smart Security Patrol Car, held at Lapangan Kembar, Male Campus, on Monday, September 14, 2026. The new facility forms part of Thursina’s ongoing efforts to develop a security ecosystem that supports a safe, responsive, and internationally standardised educational environment.
The symbolic handover was conducted by the CEO of Thursina IIBS, Ustaz Nur Abidin, Ed.D., to the Chief of Management Information Technology (MIT), Ustaz A. Ali Syihabuddin, S.Si., M.Pd., Gr. Members of the Thursina IIBS Corps Smart Security team also attended the event as the front line of campus security.
Security in a boarding school carries a broader responsibility than in conventional corporate environments. Beyond protecting physical assets and facilities, Thursina’s Corps Smart Security also supports educational activities, maintains students’ comfort, and contributes to a sense of safety across the entire campus community.
Ustaz Nur Abidin explained that security at Thursina requires a comprehensive approach because it is directly connected to students’ lives around the clock.
“Security at Thursina is different from security in general. We are building a security system for an educational environment where students grow, learn, and develop their character. Therefore, we need professional standards, well-prepared personnel, technology, and a service culture that meets the needs of a boarding school,” said Ustaz Nur Abidin.
Thursina’s security system is developed in line with modern educational security practices, including integrated security systems, technology-based area monitoring, access management, emergency response readiness, and data-based security coordination. This approach supports Thursina’s commitment to developing a Smart and Green Campus, World Class Standards, and World Class Dormitory Services.
These principles are implemented through the Smart Security system. Thursina IIBS has strengthened its monitoring capabilities through CCTV cameras and WiFi access points installed across the campus. At Campus 1 (Female Campus), the system is supported by 93 WiFi access points and 141 CCTV cameras, covering strategic areas including academic buildings, dormitories, the mosque, public spaces, and outdoor areas.
Meanwhile, Campus 2 (Male Campus) is equipped with 98 WiFi access points and 187 CCTV cameras to support monitoring across its wider campus area. The integration of these technologies provides an important foundation for maintaining a boarding school environment that is safe, connected, and responsive to the needs of the campus community.
According to Ustaz A. Ali Syihabuddin, strengthening security technology is only one aspect of the school’s broader security mission. At its core, security is about protecting people and upholding the trust placed in the school.
“What we protect is not only buildings, vehicles, or facilities. We protect people, the trust given to us, and their sense of safety,” said Ustaz Syihab.
The new patrol car is expected to enhance the mobility of the Corps Smart Security team in monitoring campus areas, enable faster responses to security needs, and strengthen coordination across Thursina IIBS.
This initiative reflects Thursina’s RECODING Value of Caring, demonstrating the school’s commitment to providing comprehensive protection for its community. At Thursina, security is not regarded merely as an operational function, but as an essential part of creating a supportive environment for students’ comfort, safety, and overall educational experience.
Through the continued development of Corps Smart Security, Thursina IIBS is building an educational environment that provides not only excellent learning opportunities but also greater peace of mind for families entrusting their children’s education to the school. A robust security system remains an important foundation for creating a boarding school experience that is safe, modern, and aligned with world-class standards. (izz)
