Thursina International Islamic Boarding School (IIBS) continues to strengthen its support for scholarship recipients through the Thursina Young Leaders Scholarship (TYLS) Scholar Orientation 2026, held at TICH on Sunday, September 13, 2026.
The program provided an opportunity to build a shared understanding and prepare 83 scholarship students to carry out their roles as future contributors to society.
The activities included a policy orientation and a seminar titled “Being a Thursina Scholar: Building Pride and Responsibility to Contribute.” The program was designed to help scholarship recipients understand their identity, rights, and responsibilities as Thursina Scholars.
The Manager of Thursina Awards & Scholarship, Ustaz Moh Suhaili, S.Pd., explained that scholarships at Thursina are not seen simply as financial support for education. Instead, the scholarship program is designed as a development ecosystem that builds a sense of responsibility and encourages students to give back after receiving educational opportunities.
“We want our scholars to understand that a scholarship is not only about what they receive, but also about the responsibility they carry. We hope they will succeed in their studies, take pride in being part of Thursina, and one day give back to society through the opportunities they have received,” said Ustaz Suhaili.
The orientation also provided an opportunity to build a clear understanding of the expectations between the school and its scholarship recipients. Through the program, students were encouraged to develop greater awareness of their academic responsibilities, character development, and the contributions expected from them throughout their education.
This continuous support is part of Thursina’s commitment to expanding access to quality education. This commitment was also recognized by the East Java Provincial Government in June 2026, when Thursina received an award for providing 134 full scholarships and monthly allowances that continue until students enter university and become financially independent. The recognition was given for the school’s contribution to supporting the Jatim Cerdas program.
Jatim Cerdas is one of the East Java Provincial Government’s priority programs aimed at expanding access to quality, inclusive, and equitable education. The program includes efforts to strengthen internationally oriented education and provide scholarship opportunities for students, including those studying at Islamic boarding schools.
For Thursina, providing sustainable scholarships must go hand in hand with continuous development and mentoring. Therefore, the future development of Thursina Scholars is designed not only to help them successfully complete their education but also to prepare them to create a positive impact through various development programs provided by the school.
This approach reflects the Care value within Thursina’s RECODING values. Care is demonstrated by ensuring that access to education truly becomes a pathway for students to grow and provides them with continuous opportunities to develop their potential.
“We hope our scholarship recipients will not stop at being students who successfully received an opportunity. They must continue to grow, develop their abilities, and eventually become people who can create opportunities for others,” added Ustaz Suhaili.
Through the Thursina Young Leaders Scholarship, Thursina sees scholarships as a long-term investment in education. Every opportunity provided is expected to develop a generation capable of turning access into achievement, achievement into contribution, and contribution into a greater impact for society and the nation.
