Thursina Grand Festival IV Brings Together Young Scholars Through National Academic Olympiad

Thursina International Islamic Boarding School (IIBS) once again hosted an educational competition through the fourth edition of the Thursina Grand Festival (TGF IV), initiated by the Thursina Student Association (TSA), the student organization at Thursina IIBS. The event was held as part of the National Education Day celebrations and provided a platform for junior high school students from various parts of Indonesia to develop their academic potential.

Carrying the theme “Seek Wisdom Beyond the Veil,” TGF IV featured a series of academic competitions designed to sharpen students’ critical thinking and problem-solving skills while broadening their knowledge and perspectives. The event brought together around 132 teams from cities across Indonesia, providing students with an opportunity to compete, exchange experiences, and build connections with peers from other schools.

Ustaz Syihabuddin Al Anshori, S.Pd., Advisor of TSA Male, explained that TGF is more than just an academic competition. It also serves as a platform for character development and collaboration among young people.

“Through TGF, we want to create a healthy and educational competitive environment. Participants are not only challenged academically, but are also encouraged to develop sportsmanship, collaboration, and the confidence to think critically when facing challenges,” he said.

The UIN Malang graduate added that the fourth edition of TGF also reflects TSA students’ contribution to creating meaningful initiatives for the education community. According to him, involving the student organization in managing a national-scale event provides valuable experience in developing leadership, teamwork, and organizational management skills among the students.

TGF IV also carried several broader educational objectives, including strengthening participants’ understanding of general knowledge, fostering a culture of tolerance and appreciation for diversity, and building connections among schools to encourage future educational collaboration. The competitions were also designed to develop critical thinking and problem-solving skills through a range of challenging academic tasks.

The competition was marked by a lively atmosphere and strong enthusiasm from participants who came from different regions across Indonesia. Beyond the competition itself, the event provided an opportunity for students from diverse school backgrounds to connect, share experiences, and build friendships. The participation of more than a hundred teams reflected the growing interest among students in meaningful and high-quality academic competitions.

At the end of the competition, SMPN 1 Kediri took first place after delivering an outstanding performance across the various competition sessions. SMP Al-Ya’lu secured second place after maintaining a strong and competitive performance throughout the event.

Through the fourth edition of Thursina Grand Festival, Thursina IIBS hopes to continue providing opportunities for Indonesian students to explore and develop their potential through competitions that are educational, inspiring, and character-building.

“This event is also a reflection of Thursina’s commitment to supporting the growth of intelligent, adaptable students who are ready to face future challenges with a spirit of collaboration and innovation,” concluded Ustaz Syihabuddin, who is commonly known as Kang Syihab. (iz/lil)
