As part of its commitment to broadening academic opportunities and preparing future leaders with global perspectives, Thursina International Islamic Boarding School (IIBS) High School has taken another step toward strengthening its international outlook by establishing a strategic partnership with Politeknik Perkapalan Negeri Surabaya (PPNS), one of Indonesia’s leading higher education institutions specializing in maritime and shipbuilding technology.
The signing ceremony of the Cooperation Agreement (PKS) was held in Surabaya and brought together representatives from both institutions. The agreement was signed by Rachmad Tri Salistijono, S.T., M.T., Director of PPNS, and Ustadz A. Ali Syihabudin, M.Pd., Principal of Thursina IIBS High School.
The partnership is designed to provide students with broader access to applied science and technology while complementing their education with the Islamic leadership values emphasized at Thursina IIBS.
Principal of Thursina IIBS High School, Ustadz A. Ali Syihabudin, M.Pd., highlighted the importance of this collaboration in preparing students to become future leaders who are ready to navigate an increasingly technology-driven world.
“Through this strategic collaboration with PPNS, we seek to equip our students with strong global competencies. This partnership is not only about learning modern science and maritime engineering, but also about building a strong foundation for students to grow into responsible global citizens with a cross-cultural mindset and a strong awareness of developments in the international maritime industry,” said Ustadz Ali in his remarks.
He added that advanced technical skills need to be complemented by strong intercultural awareness so that Thursina graduates can respond to global challenges with confidence, adaptability, and a solutions-oriented mindset.
The partnership is also expected to strengthen Thursina IIBS’s international exposure and provide students with broader opportunities for cultural exchange and academic collaboration. Through international seminars, collaborative applied research, and relevant training programs, students will have opportunities to gain first-hand experience and develop connections beyond the classroom.
The collaboration is also expected to open opportunities for students to develop research projects and academic publications, providing valuable experience as they prepare for further study at leading universities in Indonesia and around the world.
The agreement covers a range of strategic programs related to school development and the implementation of the Tri Dharma of Higher Education, including education, research, and community service.
With the four-year cooperation agreement, Thursina IIBS continues to strengthen its commitment to providing high-quality education that combines academic excellence, technological development, Islamic values, and global perspectives. Through partnerships such as this, the school aims to prepare its students to pursue future opportunities with confidence while making meaningful contributions to society. (lil)
