Laying the Foundation: Thursina Continue Developing Its Scholarship Ecosystem

Thursina International Islamic Boarding School (IIBS) strengthened the governance and future direction of its scholarship programs through the Strategic Development Forum: Advancing Thursina Awards & Scholarships Ecosystem, held on August 19–20, 2026, at the Leiden Meeting Room, Thursina IIBS.

The strategic forum featured Chairman of the Indonesia Scholarship Center (ISC), Prof. Didin Nuruddin, Ph.D., together with ISC Secretary Agung Adhityawarman.

Representing Thursina IIBS were Chief of Relation and Enrolment Office, Ustaz Sabar Arifin, S.T., M.M.; Manager of Thursina Awards & Scholarship, Ustaz Moh Suhaili, S.Pd.; Manager of Alumni Relation & Development, Ustaz Robby Amrullah Q. M., M.Pd., Dip.Ed.; National University Enrolment team members Ustaz Wildan Pradistya Putra, M.Pd. and Ustazah Faizatun Nisa’, M.Pd.; Overseas University Enrolment representative Ustazah Khusnul Ifada, M.A.; Manager of Waqf & Endowment Fund, Ustaz Alfarid Fedro, M.H.; and Manager of Marketing and Enrolment, Ustaz Abdul Jalil Mursyid, S.I.Kom.

The forum focused on evaluating existing programs and developing a roadmap for a more structured, sustainable, and adaptive Thursina Awards and Scholarship ecosystem that can respond to changing scholarship opportunities.

Chief of Secretarial Affairs and Partnership at Thursina IIBS, Ustaz Mohamat Taufik, M.Ed., explained that strengthening the scholarship ecosystem should go beyond simply helping students access educational funding opportunities.

Thursina needs to build a system that develops talent from an early stage and prepares students to become strong candidates for future scholarship opportunities.

“This forum gives us the opportunity to review the position and direction of Thursina’s scholarship programs more comprehensively. We want to build an ecosystem that is not only focused on the number of scholarship recipients, but also on talent development, governance, funding networks, and sustainable partnership strategies,” said Ustaz Taufik.

The discussions explored the characteristics of various Indonesian government scholarship programs, their selection processes, and the strategies required to prepare candidates more systematically.

The forum then focused on recommendations for talent development, ensuring that students can build the academic competence, leadership skills, track records, and personal readiness needed to meet scholarship standards.

The forum also explored different funding partnership models and mapped potential stakeholders who could become strategic partners. Through the process, Thursina began redefining the mission and positioning of its scholarship programs to respond to changing educational needs while creating wider opportunities for collaboration.

These discussions were aligned with the forum’s three main agendas: Strategy for National and International Scholarship Opportunities, Building Long-Term Scholarship Sustainability, and Benchmarking Scholarship Governance Standards.

The cross-functional collaboration also reflected the Care value within Thursina IIBS’s RECODING Core Values: the school’s commitment to ensuring that every student has access to opportunities for personal growth and the best possible education according to their potential.

Strengthening the scholarship ecosystem is therefore not viewed simply as providing financial support. It is also an effort to build structured guidance, expand networks of opportunity, and prepare pathways for students to continue their education and make wider contributions in the future.

As a follow-up, Thursina IIBS and the Indonesia Scholarship Center (ISC) will continue developing the roadmap and exploring the involvement of several strategic partners.

This initiative is expected to strengthen the Thursina Awards and Scholarship Ecosystem into a more inclusive and sustainable system that can open even more doors for future generations.
