Thursina International Islamic Boarding School (IIBS) strengthened its digital learning transformation through the Samsung Digital Lighthouse School (SDLS) Follow Up, held on September 4–5, 2026, at Harvard Hall.
This program is one of Thursina’s key initiatives in building a learning ecosystem that is adaptive, measurable, and relevant to technological developments.
The program involved Thursina IIBS principals and teachers in two main activities: the Consultancy Plan and Teacher Bootcamp. Both were designed to ensure that digital transformation goes beyond providing devices and becomes part of a learning culture that is fully integrated with the school’s strategy.
During the Consultancy Plan session, the Principals and Vice Principals reflected on the use of technology that had already been implemented and identified areas for further development. The discussion covered preparations for school visits, digital portfolio management, sustainable innovation planning, and strategies to improve teacher competencies.
Evaluating the progress of digital transformation was also an important part of the forum. The findings from the review process were used to identify implementation gaps and develop more relevant improvement strategies based on Thursina’s needs.
Chief of Human Capital Management (HCM) of Thursina IIBS, Ustazah Dian Asmi Setoningsih, M.Pd., emphasized that digital transformation must go hand in hand with improving teachers’ skills and capacity.
“Technology will not create a significant impact if it is only used as a tool. What we want to build is the ability of teachers to use technology to create learning experiences that are more critical, creative, collaborative, and meaningful for students,” said Ustazah Dian.
After the strategic session with school leaders, the program continued with the Teacher Bootcamp. Teachers practiced using Samsung Galaxy Tablets to strengthen the 4C skills in the learning process: Critical Thinking, Creativity, Collaboration, and Communication.
This development was further strengthened through the Project-Based Learning (PBL) approach. Teachers did not only learn how to use the devices, but were also guided to design activities that encourage students to explore problems, work together, create projects, and build understanding through real-life experiences.
For Thursina, this approach reflects the Open Minded value in the RECODING core values. Openness to technology means being willing to evaluate old methods, try new approaches, and choose practices that can truly improve the quality of learning.
As a modern Islamic boarding school with an international mindset, Thursina believes that innovation should strengthen the role of teachers, not replace them. At the same time, learning must remain rooted in strong character and values.
Through the SDLS Follow Up, Thursina IIBS continues its journey from consultancy to classroom practice. The final goal is not simply to become a more digital school, but to build an educational ecosystem that develops students who are spiritually strong, intellectually capable, and ready to face a constantly changing world.
