  • Framing of Israel's Attack on Doha in Al Jazeera and Al Khaleej: A Robert Entman Perspective

    The escalating geopolitical tensions in the Middle East, particularly Israel’s attack on Doha, Qatar, on 9 September 2025, received extensive coverage from Al Jazeera and Al Khaleej. This study aims to examine how both media outlets framed and narrated the event using Robert Entman’s framing analysis model. This research adopts a qualitative descriptive approach. The findings reveal that Al Jazeera framed Israel’s attack not merely as a military action but as part of a broader hegemonic project and strategy of regional domination. The causes of the aggression were portrayed as Israel’s expansionist efforts to reshape the regional security structure. The moral evaluation emphasized violations of sovereignty and regional stability, accompanied by recommendations advocating regional political consolidation and the establishment of a new security order. Meanwhile, Al Khaleej framed the attack as a serious violation of Qatar’s sovereignty and highlighted its causes as a deliberate criminal act planned by Israel to target Hamas leaders. Its moral judgment condemned the aggression as a violation of international law and a threat to civilian safety. The proposed recommendations focused on Qatar’s diplomatic assertiveness and the enhancement of security preparedness. This study contributes to media framing scholarship within the context of Middle Eastern geopolitics and enriches the application of Entman’s model in international news analysis.
  • Arabic Hate Speech in Youtube Al-Jazeera Comments on The Death of Ismail Haniyeh: Forensic Linguistic Studies

    The Israel–Palestine conflict escalated once again in early October 2023, resulting in numerous casualties. One incident that drew international attention was the reported death of Ismail Haniyeh, a senior Hamas leader, who was allegedly killed in Tehran by a blast believed to have been launched by Israel. This event sparked widespread public reaction, especially on digital platforms such as YouTube. This study examines Arabic-language hate speech found in the comment section of a news video uploaded by @Al-Jazeera Arabic covering Haniyeh’s death. Using a forensic linguistics framework within a media discourse analysis approach, the study applies a qualitative descriptive method, with data collected through reading and note-taking techniques. The primary data were obtained from user comments on the YouTube video posted by @Al-Jazeera Arabic, specifically concerning the case of Ismail Haniyeh’s death. The analysis identifies hate speech based on expressions that contain insults, hostility, or incitement, categorized linguistically. He findings reveal six referents of hate speech, namely: circumstances (6 hate speech), objects (7 hate speech), activities (4 hate speech), kinship (3 hate speech), profession (2 hate speech), exclamation (2 hate speech). In terms of the linguistic forms used, hate speech is found in the form of words, phrases, and clauses, namely there are 6 hate speech words, 9 hate speech phrases, and 9 hate speech clauses. The study highlights how hate speech in digital discourse reflects not only emotional reactions but also the linguistic strategies users employ to express ideological and political stances.
  • Trust issue analysis: Psycholinguistic study in Sherine Abdel Wahab Garh Tany's song albums

    This research explores the phenomenon of trust issue in a romantic relationship through the analysis of song lyrics in the album Garh Tany performed by Sherine Abdel Wahab. The purpose of this research is to represent the trust issue phenomenon contained in the lyrics of Sherine's song on the album Garh Tany. The data was collected through the analysis of lyric text from three songs contained in the Garh Tany album, namely Shabri Aleel, Eh eh, and Garh Tany, then analyzed using the content analysis method to identify themes, patterns, and meanings. The results of this reseach show that the phenomenon of trust issues contained in the three song lyrics describes trust issues in a relationship caused by a bad experience experienced by one of the partners, some of the bad experiences found include betrayal, disappointment, abandonment, reflection and acceptance. Betrayal often appears as a major theme, where the partner feels betrayed and it is difficult to trust again. Disappointment is also often found because it reflects feelings of being hurt due to unfulfilled expectations. Some of the bad experiences experienced by one of the couples above have their own impacts, namely, experiencing overthingking, where the individual constantly thinks about the bad events or experiences he experiences; disturbances in social relationships, where individuals have difficulty interacting with others; and depression as a heavy emotional impact due to loss of trust.
